BIOGRAPHY
Steve Gallagher, "Gabs" or "Gabby" to most, began his career playing drums in a bad cover band, frequenting the seedy bars of Alaska. After learning that he was much more interested in making the band sound great than he was playing "Rebel Yell" five nights a week, he headed off for Los Angeles where he landed a gig as a runner at Encore Studios in Burbank, and began to learn the trade.

At Encore, Steve assisted for many great mix engineers, among them Barney Perkins and Tom Lord-Alge. After a few years at Encore, Steve moved over to Image Recording in Hollywood, where he was Chris Lord-Alge's full-time assistant. Taking what he learned from Tom and Chris, Steve honed his mixing and recording skills.

After assisting for Chris Lord-Alge for 2 years, Steve branched out on his own in 1995, engineering for Mick Jones on Tina Arena's multi-platinum Sony Australia's release, In Deep. After assisting on Sugar Ray's debut record, he was asked to engineer on their smash multi-platinum record 14:59.

Since then Steve has engineered, mixed and produced a string of successful records and singles from such diverse artists as Sugar Ray, OPM, Tina Arena, Sweetback, Percy Bady & Kirk Franklin, earning several gold and platinum records.

Steve currently works out of Los Angeles where he engineers and produces, as well as plays many of the instruments on his productions. He is just as comfortable engineering hi-fi records with powerful live drums, guitars and vocals, as he is putting together lo-fi loop-based rap rock or recording a gospel choir.

Personally, Steve is an avid hot-rodder and auto racing fanatic and owns the world's first ProTools rig devoted to the memory of Dale Earnhardt and other lost racing heroes. He lives in Redondo Beach with his wife of 12 years, affectionately known as Mrs. Gabby to most.
